The North American IoT Networking Opportunity

The North American IoT market is rich with opportunity. According to GSMA Intelligence, the region’s cellular M2M connections alone are set to grow from the present 53.9 million, to 174 million by the end of 2020. The region is widely regarded as a leading centre of innovation and is home to many of the world’s tech giants facilitating the IoT boom. North America’s overall GDP continues to grow and its strong consumer electronics market and robust service sector make it a prime location for the implementation of a wide range of connected solutions.
In order to help develop common understanding and cooperation in the North American IoT industry, the GSMA is hosting the Connected Living Executive Networking Breakfast in the Hilton Atlanta on October 27. The event is a valuable opportunity to meet senior industry experts, network with other leading ecosystem players and discover growth strategies of other IoT organisations.
Attendees will also have the chance to discover the latest mobile-led innovations and how they are helping the North American IoT market to scale. For example, the GSMA Embedded SIM Specification is becoming the de facto industry standard, reducing market fragmentation and helping to connect everything and anything to the internet, such as smart meters, traffic lights, cars and industrial equipment.
Vital to the growth of the IoT is a secure network, which is why the GSMA are drafting IoT Security Guidelines which will be available for review at the end of October. The guidelines are designed to help the growing IoT industry establish a common understanding of security issues and provide recommendations on how to mitigate common security threats and weaknesses within IoT services throughout their life cycle.
The GSMA has also recently announced the Mobile IoT Initiative, a new initiative designed to accelerate the commercial availability of Low Power Wide Area (LPWA) solutions in licensed spectrum.
The Connected Living Executive Networking Breakfast is a genuine opportunity to find out more about this emerging area of the IoT and discover how you can capitalise on this opportunity. The event will take place in Room 309-310 in the Hilton Atlanta on October 27 at 07:30 – 09:00, before Mobile 360 Series keynote at 09:30. A premium breakfast buffet will be served from 07:30, admission is free and no registration is required.
