With one of the fastest climbing rates of smartphone ownership, and the mobile industry accounting for between 4 and 5% of the region’s economy, mobile is ideally placed to shape development of services across Latin America.

Key to the development of the region’s services are the fundamental improvements to mobile communication. The delivery of Rich Communication Services (RCS) will enable citizens to use a variety of innovative communication mediums in a single platform, while the deployment of 5G and IP communications networks will facilitate the delivery of next generation digital services.

The region’s transition to the world of advanced communications will be explored at this year’s Mobile 360 – Latin America, which will take place this year in Mexico City. The three-day event will host many of the continent’s industry leaders in a variety of seminars, panel discussions, keynote speeches and interactive demonstrations.

Discussions on the advancement of mobile technology will begin with a conference featuring Google, América Móvil, Syniverse and Delta Partners, who will discuss the latest developments in adoption across Latin America. Central to this session will be the GSMA’s RCS universal profile and Google initiative Jibe – announced earlier this year – which seeks to simplify and accelerate RCS adoption, and will enable all operators to provide a globally interoperable messaging service across all Android devices, based on the GSMA’s RCS specifications.

On the event’s second day, the GSMA’s Network 2020 programme will host a keynote session on Network Function Virtualisation (NFV) and the road to 5G. With deployment dates drawing closer, speakers at this year’s session are uniquely placed to offer insight into details of 5G trials and the potential impact of its implementation. The keynote will feature discussions between speakers from Cisco, Ericsson, Huawei, Qualcomm Technologies Inc., and the GSMA Technical and Terminals group, and promises unparalleled insight into the development of 5G between now and 2025.

The final day will offer attendees the opportunity to sit in on the Network 2020’s All-IP technology seminar. The seminar will cover a broad range of topics, including the path to 1 billion [RCS] users, the technical development of VoLTE and VoWifi technologies, and the best methods with which to build healthy networks in Latin America.

Those seeking to implement Advanced Communications are invited to access the All-IP Business Guide. The guide will offer technical support, as well as advice on a large number of areas such as business rationale and implementation.
