Mobile Meetings Series: Mobile Connect – Advancing digital society

Start: Wednesday 14 October 2015

End: Wednesday 14 October 2015

Location: Brussels, Belgium

Digital identity is a key enabler for realising the opportunities of e-government solutions, making digital transactions more secure, convenient and trustworthy while reducing costs and improving service accessibility. Across Europe, initiatives like the eIDAS Regulation are providing a major step towards a connected Digital Single Market and allowing governments to capitalize on a wealth of benefits for businesses and consumers.

GSMA has been working with operators and governments to set up cross-border trials for Mobile Connect – to help ensure the unique strengths of mobile for identification and authentication are made available as widely as possible. By outlining best practice, the GSMA and operator partners are able to set up the infrastructure to support secure, trusted digital transactions for governments and public services, offering a route to market for when eIDAS implementation deadlines arrive.

In the context of ongoing discussions on eIDAS and the Payment Services Directive II, the Mobile Meetings Series breakfast will focus on authentication standards for e-Identity. The high level breakfast will discuss:

  • How can we ensure that eIDAS cross-border, public e-Gov services authentication is compatible with PSD II payment approvals?
  • What is the best approach for governments take to provide the required level of security for e-Identification?
  • What mechanisms must be in place to guarantee that consumer demand and security needs drive the certification of authentication systems?
