Mobile Connect’s capabilities to be showcased to Asian market at MWCS16

As services in Asia continue to move online, consumers and businesses alike face two challenges: how to keep track of an ever-increasing array of login details, and how to keep associated services secure yet convenient.  Mobile Connect meets both of these challenges, by allowing users to verify their identity online by phone, via one simple authentication process across all platforms – and to do so with greater confidence in their privacy.

Later this month the GSMA will be showcasing Mobile Connect to the market’s key decision-makers in Asia.  Between 29 June and 1 July, industry leaders will meet in Shanghai for the Mobile World Congress 2016, at which Mobile Connect will feature prominently.  It will take centre-stage during the Keynote Session of 29 June on ‘Identity and Personalisation’, which will address how the ongoing proliferation of online services demands just such a solution as offered by Mobile Connect.

The GSMA’s event-long Innovation City will host various interactive demonstrations of the solution’s capabilities, focussing on the advantages it holds over alternatives. These were applauded this month by attendees at the Mobile Connect Summit, with one Telenor representative stating “why use Mobile Connect over other solutions? It is more secure, more transparent and gives the user more control and choice”.

These advantages are not purely a matter of convenience to consumers; they hold significant promise for businesses and even national economies.  By facilitating swifter and more secure transactions, participating businesses can make strides not only in efficiency but in customer retention: 68% of web users are more likely to return to a website that ‘remembers’ them, and 87% have left one that asked them to register.  This presents a serious asset to growth in the private and public sectors.

The story so far is characterised by a vote of supreme confidence, with Mobile Connect now available to more than 2 billion consumers across 34 MNOs and 21 countries. As Nick Dent. Ooredoo’s New Business Chief Officer, stated recently: “is Mobile Connect part of the future? Absolutely. And it’s a key pillar to becoming a meaningful player.” The GSMA will be demonstrating just that at the Mobile World Congress next week, as we take Mobile Connect on to the next stage in its journey to mass adoption.
