Evolved Intelligence, the network value added services company, has launched a roaming steering service which operates correctly through a number of roaming hubs, including network extensions. This allows operators, as they add their own direct relationships, to effectively steer traffic to those operator partners.
Says Nick Jones, Evolved Intelligence CTO: “Many operators use roaming hubs when starting up. It makes sense as these hubs provide instant and broad roaming partner coverage. Of course this coverage comes at a cost, so most operators, over time, seek to add direct relationships for their most important destinations. Naturally they want to send as much traffic as possible to these partners. The problem is that many steering systems cannot work via roaming hubs. This means that, if a handset picks up a roaming operator partner of the hub, it is not possible to move it over to a direct partner operator. Over time this both costs money and makes it difficult for you to build solid direct relationships.”
The Evolved Intelligence steering of roaming service contains algorithms to cope with a range of different hubs. These are being constantly updated.
