Mobile 360 Series – Africa

Start: Friday 25 April 2014

End: Sunday 27 April 2014

Venue: The Clock Tower Conference Centre

Mobile is already playing a key role in inclusion of the underserved in many African countries, but there is still much room for further development. Reducing the digital divide; supporting families and businesses; and offering access to essential education, skills and financial services will help ensure the underserved are digitally, financially and socially included, and enable flourishing local digital economies. In order to realise these opportunities, collaboration is required to overcome critical roadblocks in technology, governance, business models and investment.

The GSMA Mobile 360 Series in Africa aims to ‘Drive Digital and Financial Inclusion’ by convening key stakeholders to examine the practical steps to help bring about collaboration, including:

• Coordinating and enabling policies promoting digital and financial inclusion
• Extending affordable access to mobile and internet services
• Empowering citizens to make the most of new opportunities
• Supporting the required investment at macro and micro levels

In addition to the series of engaging plenary sessions, GSMA Mobile for Development will be hosting a series of parallel workshops focused on exploring the opportunities, challenges and solutions to delivering successful mobile services that deliver social, economic and environmental impact.
