GSMA Launches New Guide to Help Operators Adopt All-IP Solutions

This week the GSMA’s Network 2020 Programme announced the launch of a new digital resource called The All-IP Business Guide that has been created to give operators the tools they need to adopt all-IP communications services regardless of where they might be on the journey. It’s critical for operators to offer their customers a network capable of meeting the demand for data services and richer communications, and the All-IP Business Guide is our way of helping them to negotiate any barriers and ultimately accelerate the deployment of enriched communications services such as Voice-Over-LTE (VoLTE), Video-over-LTE (ViLTE) and Rich Communications Services (RCS).

The All-IP Business Guide employs the GSMA’s extensive knowledge base to provide quick and easy access to every document and detail an operator could possibly need in order to adopt all-IP communications. It includes documentation such as launch tools, insights, case studies, whitepapers and specifications related to building the business rationale for launch, as well as a host of detail on the commercial, technical and regulatory aspects of implementation. The information has been structured to be intuitive and user-friendly and get people to what they are looking for as quickly and efficiently as possible.

The Guide has also been designed with simplicity and ease-of-use in mind and runs on any browser or format from mobile to desktop. The homepage includes a simple signposting layout to direct people to the information that is relevant or of most interest to them and includes four principal areas: ‘Business Rationale’, ‘Technical’, ‘Regulatory’ and ‘Commercial’. The service is available to GSMA members only and is accessible through the GSMA’s Infocentre Portal.

The GSMA’s Network 2020 programme is designed to help mobile network operators in the move to an all-IP world and help them deliver global interconnected all-IP communications services to consumers such as VoLTE, ViLTE, Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi) and RCS. Operators are in a unique position to offer secure, ubiquitous all-IP solutions with reach, reliability and richness and the transition will allow them to deliver an enhanced customer user experience that when interconnected with other operators offers truly global reach and scale. The programme is already helping operators from around the world to migrate from circuit switched technology to an all-IP infrastructure whilst helping them to maintain service continuity.

While the GSMA already works closely with operators from around the world to help them launch all-IP services, it is hoped that the Guide will accelerate their adoption by providing access to support and information on a much broader scale.
