The Communications Regulator\u2019s Association of Southern Africa\u00a0 ( CRASA) and the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority [TCRA] hosted a workshop on \u201cSmart Societies\u201d at the Bank of Tanzania Conference Centre, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from 25 \u2013 27 March 2019.<\/p>\n
The Workshop was attended by 63 participants from ten [10] Southern African Development Community [SADC], including; Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n
The Workshop was delivered with facilitation and presentations by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), Universal Postal Union (UPU), Wits University, Government of Niger, Vodacom Tanzania, South Africa and India. The GSMA moderated a session and delivered a presentation highlighting the role of Mobile IoT in a Smart Society.<\/p>\n
The GSMA highlighted case studies of Mobile IoT applications Singapore, Norway, China, the USA, and other jurisdictions, and made a case for the adoption of key regulatory and policy principles to support the development of Mobile IoT.<\/p>\n
The workshop was a precursor to the CRASA 8th Annual General Meeting which held on the 28 and 29 March at the same venue, which had CEOs of CRASA Regulators from the afore-mentioned member states, and\/or their representatives in attendance.<\/p>\n
The AGM recognized the support offered to the CRASA Universal Access Committee and approved the Guidelines for the conduct of Broadband Gap Analysis which was developed for the SADC with the help of GSMA.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
