In 2019 the European Commission presented the European Green Deal, committing to become the first climate-neutral region by 2050. The same year, the GSMA Board set an ambitious goal for the industry to be net zero by 2050.<\/p>\n<p>On 31 May, the GSMA will host a roundtable discussion with key EU policy and industry decision-makers for the launch of the second <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsma.com\/solutions-and-impact\/connectivity-for-good\/external-affairs\/resources\/mobile-net-zero-state-of-the-industry-on-climate-action-2022-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GSMA State of the Industry report on Climate Action: Mobile Net Zero 2022<\/a> and an in-depth discussion on how the mobile technology can help deliver the EU Green Deal.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Programme: <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>8:45-9:00 | Welcome coffee and registration<\/p>\n<p>9:00-9:10 | Introductory remarks on the European Green Deal by Vesa Ter\u00e4v\u00e4, Head of Unit, European Green Deal, DG Secretariat-General, European Commission<\/p>\n<p>9:10-9:20 | Presentation of the Mobile Net Zero report by Steven Moore, Head of Climate Action, GSMA<\/p>\n<p>9:20-9:40 | Mobile Industry Actions<\/p>\n<p>9:40-10:30 | Discussion with participants:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How is the mobile industry helping the twin transition?<\/li>\n<li>What does the increase in data traffic mean for carbon emissions and energy consumption?<\/li>\n<li>What are the challenges and the keys to unlocking renewable energy markets?<\/li>\n<li>What impact will the rollout of 5G have for the industry\u2019s emissions and what does is mean for legacy networks?<\/li>\n<li>How can the industry start to move towards a circular economy for both network equipment and consumer devices?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The event will be moderated by Rita de Castro Director, Policy, Europe, GSMA.<\/p>\n<p>For more information please contact <a href=\"mailto:events@gsma.com\">events@gsma.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h5>#GSMAConnected Series: Small scale Big impact<\/h5>\n<p>This event is part of #GSMAConnected Series of Events (formerly Mobile Meetings Series).
