{"id":13286,"date":"2024-07-29T09:30:00","date_gmt":"2024-07-29T08:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gsma.com\/about-us\/regions\/europe\/?p=13286"},"modified":"2024-07-26T13:27:47","modified_gmt":"2024-07-26T12:27:47","slug":"industry-coalition-calls-for-the-reaffirmation-of-the-gdprs-risk-based-approach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gsma.com\/about-us\/regions\/europe\/news\/industry-coalition-calls-for-the-reaffirmation-of-the-gdprs-risk-based-approach\/","title":{"rendered":"Industry coalition calls for the reaffirmation of the GDPR\u2019s risk-based approach"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>BRUSSELS<\/strong><strong>, 29 July 2024<\/strong> \u2013 Today, an industry coalition of 23 associations from multiple sectors issued a joint statement on the application of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Without questioning the imperative to protect personal data, the joint statement stresses the need for a paradigm shift in the current interpretation of the GDPR to revamp the risk-based approach as the guiding principle of the GDPR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Echoing the European Commission\u2019s conclusions in its second report on the application of the GDPR, we believe in the importance of enhancing the dialogue between regulators, including data protection authorities, and the industry.
