December 2017: At the end of September 2017, the Information-Technology Protection Agency (IPA) of Japan\u2019s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) updated and streamlined its security guidelines on Internet of Things (IoT). The GSMA has also revised its IoT security guidelines recently on an independent basis. The GSMA Asia Pacific (APAC) has compared the two sets of guidelines and found them closely aligned in addressing the basic principles for ensuring the security of IoT networks.
