Nuevos datos de la GSMA revelan que los smartphones representan el 60 por ciento de las conexiones m\u00f3viles; Brasil, M\u00e9xico y Argentina lideran la adopci\u00f3n de 4G. <\/em><\/p>\n

12 de septiembre de 2017, San Francisco:<\/strong> Los smartphones ya representan seis de cada diez conexiones m\u00f3viles en Am\u00e9rica Latina, estimulando el aumento en el uso de redes sociales y otros servicios m\u00f3viles en toda la regi\u00f3n. Seg\u00fan nuevos datos que surgen del \u201cMobile Trends Report\u201d de la GSMA, publicado esta semana en el Mobile World Congress Americas, de los 690 millones de conexiones m\u00f3viles existentes en Am\u00e9rica Latina en este trimestre, el 60 por ciento corresponde a un smartphone. Este nuevo reporte tambi\u00e9n destaca la aceleraci\u00f3n de la migraci\u00f3n hacia 4G en la regi\u00f3n, que hoy representa casi 25 por ciento de las conexiones.<\/p>\n

\u201cLos smartphones representaban menos del 10 por ciento de las conexiones m\u00f3viles en 2012. Eso destaca el gran crecimiento experimentado en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, que sirvi\u00f3 de motor para la migraci\u00f3n de los suscriptores m\u00f3viles de la regi\u00f3n a redes 4G de alta velocidad\u201d, afirm\u00f3 Sebastian Cabello, Director Regional de la GSMA para Am\u00e9rica Latina. Este crecimiento fue posible gracias a la ca\u00edda en los precios de los smartphones y la cada vez mayor cantidad de subsidios y financiamiento para dispositivos ofrecidos por los operadores m\u00f3viles. Los smartphones han sido un factor determinante en convertir a Am\u00e9rica Latina en una de las regiones con mayor uso de redes sociales del mundo, con la mayor parte de este tr\u00e1fico cursado a trav\u00e9s de redes m\u00f3viles.<\/p>\n

Brasil, M\u00e9xico y Argentina lideran la migraci\u00f3n 4G a nivel regional<\/h3>\n

La tecnolog\u00eda 4G representa aproximadamente el 25 por ciento de las conexiones m\u00f3viles de la regi\u00f3n, casi el doble de las conexiones que hab\u00eda en la regi\u00f3n hace un a\u00f1o. Esto se debe a la s\u00f3lida adopci\u00f3n experimentada en grandes mercados como Brasil, M\u00e9xico y Argentina. En Brasil, el 35 por ciento de las conexiones se realizan a trav\u00e9s de redes 4G, una de las tasas de adopci\u00f3n m\u00e1s altas de toda Latinoam\u00e9rica.<\/p>\n

Desde la perspectiva de los operadores m\u00f3viles, el aumento en la adopci\u00f3n de 4G y el mayor consumo de datos m\u00f3viles has sido factores que han contribuido a incrementar el ARPU, luego de varios a\u00f1os en baja. GSMA Intelligence calcula que los ingresos por servicios m\u00f3viles crecer\u00e1n un 4 por ciento anual, comparado con el mismo trimestre del a\u00f1o anterior.<\/p>\n

Potenciando el ecosistema de start-ups<\/h3>\n

La cada vez m\u00e1s fortalecida econom\u00eda m\u00f3vil de la regi\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n contribuye a potenciar el pujante ecosistema de start-ups, cuyo financiamiento por parte de inversionistas de capitales de riesgo y fondos privados ha aumentado en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os. Seg\u00fan CB Insights, el financiamiento obtenido por Am\u00e9rica Latina durante el primer semestre de 2017 lleg\u00f3 a un monto r\u00e9cord de USD 5500 millones.<\/p>\n

Seg\u00fan el reciente reporte Tecnolatinasi , la valuaci\u00f3n del ecosistema de start-ups tecnol\u00f3gicas de la regi\u00f3n alcanza los USD 37 700 millones. El estudio destaca que existen 123 \u201cTecnolatinas\u201d valuadas en m\u00e1s de USD 25 millones, adem\u00e1s de nueve unicornios, cada uno de los cuales est\u00e1 valuado en m\u00e1s de USD 1000 millones. El 69 por ciento de estas start-ups identificadas en el reporte tienen menos de 10 a\u00f1os. El informe tambi\u00e9n menciona los siete sectores emergentes que ofrecen la mayor cantidad de oportunidades de crecimiento para las tecnolatinas: tecnofinanciero (FinTech), tecnolog\u00eda agroalimentaria, inteligencia artificial y automatizaci\u00f3n, biolog\u00eda sint\u00e9tica, energ\u00edas renovables, realidad virtual y aumentada, y el Internet de las Cosas (IoT).<\/p>\n
