5th Post Quantum Network Seminar at MWCLV24
The NIST standardisation is the result of an international process, which started in 2016, with the ongoing participation of the international cryptography community from government, academia and industry.
Each submission has gone through rigorous, multi-year public evaluation, scrutiny and debate, resulting in improvements in security and performance for the newly standardised algorithms.
The outcome is a set of tested and optimised quantum resistant algorithms, addressing key encapsulation and digital signatures. The algorithms are open source and free (as published by NIST FIPS 203, FIPS 204, FIPS 205) to be implemented into code, protocols, cryptographic assets, libraries and applications.
The NIST announcement is a particularly important milestone for the telecommunication industry as telco networks rely on global standards and high levels of interoperability to provide secure, trusted communication services across multiple geographical regions and a diverse ecosystem of technology suppliers. The publication of the NIST standards will need to be considered in the context of all the downstream standards that are impacted. That is the reason why the 5th Post Quantum Seminar will focus on understanding the impact of the newly published NIST post quantum cryptography standards on telco Operators, Vendors, Standardisation Bodies and Governments, discussing next steps, challenges and opportunities.
(Coffee and refreshments will be served from 14:15 onwards)
