APAC 5G Industry Community

GSMA forecasts 5G will contribute $2.2 trillion to the global economy by 2034, with key industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, transportation, utilities, retail, financial services and public sector benefitting the most from the new technology for digital transformation, Industry 4.0 and enterprise 4.0.

APAC is huge market and fragment with pioneer 5G in North Asia and Oceania. Rest of APAC needs more support for education to industries, ecosystem development, innovation and appropriate advocacy.

In the APAC 5G Industry forum held in May 2021, there are 900+ registrations, 600+ attendees from 35+ countries covering government & agencies, analysts, consulting & industry association, mobile operators, enterprises, and solution providers. In the post event survey, more than 80% attendees agreed to form an APAC 5G Industry Community as a collaboration platform to support 5G industry innovation, application and business opportunities.

APAC 5G Industry Community is formed by 12 Contributing members and the existing IoT community and 5G emerging market community with over 500 members in more than 30 countries.

The Community as well as the vertical interest groups aim to build a platform for people who are passionate about 5G benefits to industries and enterprises, to connect with peers and share their knowledge, requirement, and build the ecosystem to support each others to drive businesses forward with the new technologies in APAC.

The community forms a few Industry interest groups, e.g. (1) Manufacturing (2) Logistics, Port & Transportation (3) Healthcare (4) Energy, Mining & Utility (5) Smart City & Public sector, that help the members:

  • Learn 5G experiences that help industries and innovators to gain knowledge and insights
  • Understand industry requirements, explore scenarios and applicable 5G use cases
  • Promote commercial use, reference and best practices
  • Networking, building ecosystem and partnership
