APAC 5G Leaders’ CxO Summit

APAC 5G Leaders’ CxO Summit

Start: Wednesday 13 October 2021 15:00

End: Thursday 14 October 2021 17:30

Venue: Online (Hong Kong Standard Time)

Following the launch of scale commercial 5G networks in 2019/2020 by pioneering countries, commercial deployments have gained momentum with more countries around the world rolling out commercial 5G services in the last 12 months. As at the end of Q2 2021, 170 operators in 69 markets had launched commercial 5G networks. By the end of this year, with 5G becoming mainstream and accelerating more commercial deployments, GSMA expects approximately 239 operators in 83 markets globally to have launched commercial 5G networks on the way to 405 operators in 125 markets by the end of 2025.

Most operators initially launched 5G services via the 5G NSA approach to (1) deliver high speed connectivity to consumers with 5G enabled terminals and by (2) leveraging existing network investments in LTE RAN and EPC. However, to offer flexible true 5G services , 5G pioneering operators are now taking the extra step and moving to or launching 5G SA networks to provide fully virtualized services enabled by cloud native architecture.

Singapore is one of these pioneering countries with all of its mobile operators, Singtel, M1, Starhub and TPG Mobile now providing commercial 5G services. Since the commercial deployment of 5G NSA services in September 2020, Singtel in Singapore ambitiously launched the 5G SA network in May of this year. Singtel, M1 and Starhub now all offer 5G SA services and 5G SA is expected to play a key role in accelerating the digital transformation of consumer and enterprise sectors across verticals and the wider economy in Singapore.

The GSMA with the support of Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) is holding the 3rd APAC 5G Leaders’ CxO Virtual Summit, Singapore on October 13th and 14th 2021 from 1500 to 1730 Singapore time for both days.
