The GSMA APAC Telecom Cybersecurity Forum aims to bring together the Asia Pacific cybersecurity community to collaborate, share knowledge and experience to address the security challenges facing the mobile network operator industry. Our objective is to share insights of emerging cyber-threats, and solutions to mitigate the ever-increasing problem and assist the industry.

We have organized speakers from security technology providers, mobile operator security and industry associations all focused on improving the collective security of the industry. The forum provides an opportunity to:

  • Engage and network with the industry experts during panels and Q&A sessions.
  • Learn about the latest cybersecurity threats, response actions and technologies.
  • Share your experience and to help advance the overall cyber security and network resilience.
  • Track the development of mobile security standards and share latest GSMA industry initiatives including the Mobile Cybersecurity Knowledgebase (MCKB), Network Equipment Security Assurance Scheme (NESAS).

This event is in-person, by invitation only and aimed at mobile network CISO/CTO executives.

Hamza Hameed

Senior Practice Manager, Access Partnership

Hamza Hameed is a Pakistani lawyer who works as a Senior Practice Manager for Access Partnership in Singapore. He is a member of the ITU Secretary-General’s Youth Advisory Board and served as the Chair of the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) from 2022-2024. He supports governments and the private sector with policy, regulatory, and compliance-related matters in the space, satellite, and telecommunications industries. Prior to this, Hamza worked as part of the Secretariat of UNIDROIT in Rome. He led the effort towards establishing an international system of secured transactions law for the space sector, as well as advising governments on issues related to blockchain law and crypto law.

Hamza holds an LLM from the International Institute for Air and Space Law at Leiden University. He teaches spacecraft financing at various universities and is a member of the International Institute for Space Law (IISL).

Johnny Kho

Immediate Past President, Advisory Council Member, AiSP

Johnny has been active in contributing to the local IT Security area through various interest groups. He was the AiSP President from 2020 to 2024 and is now serve as the Immediate Past President and Advisor to EXCO in AISP. He takes strong personal interest in SME Digital Initiatives and initiated the Cyber Awareness and Advisory Program (CAAP) in collaboration with Cyber Security Agency (CSA) to create a sustainable support ecosystem for business owners on their digital and cyber journey.

Prasad Jayabalan

Head of Cybersecurity Strategy and Architecture, Axiata

Prasad Jayabalan is the Head of Cybersecurity Strategy & Governance at Axiata Group, one of Asia’s foremost telecommunications conglomerates operating in multiple countries. With extensive experience in Cybersecurity, Prasad plays a crucial role in fortifying Axiata’s digital infrastructure against the sophisticated landscape of cyber threats.

Prasad is a seasoned Professional Technologist (Ts.) in the cybersecurity technology domain, registered with the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT). Joining Axiata in 2022, Prasad has been instrumental in developing and implementing comprehensive cybersecurity strategies that safeguard the company’s critical assets and data. His responsibilities include developing and governing Enterprise Security Architecture, overseeing the implementation of advanced security technologies, and ensuring compliance with global cybersecurity standards and regulations.

Prasad’s career in cybersecurity spans almost two decades. Prior to his tenure at Axiata, he held several prominent positions in leading Multinational (MNC) and Government Linked (GLC) companies, where he successfully led global information security initiatives and ability to promote the value of security technology to manage cyber security risk and make business feel safer.

Prasad holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). He is a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and a Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), holding several other industry-recognized certifications.

In addition to his role at Axiata, Prasad serves as an Adjunct Professor, where he shares his extensive knowledge and experience with the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. His academic involvement underscores his commitment to education and his passion for fostering talent in the cybersecurity domain.

Keith Taylor

Managing Consultant, Cognitio Consultants

Keith helps governments with policy, regulators with auctions and investigations, and operators with understanding new technology, security, economics and cost reduction and management.

David Turkington

Head of Technology, APAC, GSMA

David Turkington is the Head of Technology for the GSMA Asia Pacific. David is responsible for driving the technology direction of the GSMA across the APAC region and working with its membership to execute key technology initiatives. Prior to joining the GSMA, David held senior positions in companies including Pixel Networks, Ericsson, SmarTone, Nokia and British Telecom. David is a Chartered Engineer and member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology.

Julian Gorman

Head of Asia Pacific, GSMA

Julian, Head of Asia Pacific at GSMA, drives collaborative efforts between the mobile industry, policymakers, and ecosystems to advance digital economies. With 20+ years of global experience in Wholesale, Business, Regulatory, Policy, and Digital Transformation, he’s a pioneer in forging digital partnerships and units. His fervor lies in mobile tech as the cornerstone of economic resilience, sparking dialogues for sustainable, inclusive digital nations.

Alex Cheng

Regional Solution Director, IT Product Management Asia Pacific, Huawei

Alex has about 20+ years of IT working experience, where he spent majority of his time in IBM and Dell.

Throughout his tenure in IBM, he has played major role as Project Manager in Services Delivery projects, and also Pre-Sales IT Infrastructure Architect in designing IT solutions comprises of cloud computing, servers, storages, business continuity, disaster recovery and enterprise IT optimization. Apart from that he also played the role as Services Solutions Architect on managed services.

During his tenure in Dell, he played the role as Services Solutions Sales to sell Dell professional services, inclusive of managed services to customers in South Asia and Korea region.

Alex currently responsible for data storage product management and solution pre-sales in Huawei, spearheading the customer solution engagement with various telcos in Asia Pacific region, promoting Huawei data storage solutions for telcos, as well as helping carrier customers in data management transformation through assessment and consultative approach. Part of his active engagement right now involves various telecommunication providers in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Philippines.

Evence Su

Asia Pacific Cybersecurity and Privacy Protection Officer, Huawei Technologies

Evence Su has been working at Huawei for over 20 years.

In 2011, he was one of the early appointees to the Global Cyber Security and Privacy Protection Office (GSPO Office), Huawei’s top level cyber security and privacy protection governance organization. He has led key strategy and policy projects in a wide variety of areas, including vulnerability management and cybersecurity crisis management, and has delivered risk management initiatives related to activities such as sales & marketing, R&D and global technical service.

From September 2020 to September 2023, he was the Director of Huawei’s Cyber Security Transparency Center in Brussels, leading a team of cyber security experts and managing the center’s communication, collaboration and verification activities across Europe.

Since October 2023, he is Asia Pacific cyber security and privacy protection officer in Kuala Lumpur, leading a team of country cyber security and privacy protection officers and experts and managing regional cyber security compliance and risks to ensure business development.

Louis Lou

Executive Assistant Director for Global Cyber Security & Privacy, Huawei

Mr. Lou joined Huawei in 2007 with a Master Degree in Telecommunications from Beijing University of Post and Telecoms.

Mr. Lou has 20 years working experience in the Telecom industry in both research and development and marketing.

In 2022, Mr. Lou was appointed as Senior Expert, in Huawei’s Global Security and Privacy office. In this position he is responsible for global communication strategy and execution on security and privacy domain.

Mr. Lou is also taking the position of GSMA Fraud And Security Architecture (FSAG) working group Vice Chairman.

Martin Bakhuizen

Senior Expert of 5G security, Huawei

Mr. Bakhuizen joined Huawei in 2006 and has a Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm Sweden.

Mr. Bakhuizen has 34 years of experience from the wireless telecom industry in R&D, SDO’s, sales and marketing as well as product management.

Since 2023 Mr. Bakhuizen is active in the GSMA Fraud And Security Architecture working group.

 

Sean Yang

Director of Huawei GSPO Office (Global Cyber Security & Privacy Office)

Sean Yang graduated from Peking University with a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Information Technology. He joined Huawei in 1998 and has previously assumed the offices of Senior Vice President of Huawei America and President of Huawei Canada. Since 2017, Mr. Yang has served as the Director of Huawei Global Cyber Security & Privacy Office. And since 2022, has also served as Huawei GSPO. The GSPO Office assists the corporate decision-makers in developing Huawei’s overall cyber security and privacy protection strategies, and takes charge of policy execution and supervision, as well as the development and implementation of Huawei’s end-to-end cyber security and privacy governance system. The GSPO Office not only ensures legal compliance, but also seeks to systematically improve the competitiveness of Huawei’s products, solutions, and professional services in cyber security and privacy protection, as well as helping customers build cyber resilience. This helps to achieve the trustworthy delivery of all Huawei technologies and services. Mr. Yang joined Huawei Marketing Dept in 1998 and spent many years working in Huawei’s offices around the world. Over the past two decades, he has held multiple important leadership roles in global markets including Latin America, Central Asia, and China.

Dr Lim Hoon Wei

Principal Director, Cyber R&D and Special Ops, NCS

Dr Lim Hoon Wei leads NCS Cyber R&D and Special Ops. He is responsible for driving R&D initiatives with collaborators from industry, academia and government. His team incubates new technologies and services; moreover they conduct studies and deliver projects requiring specialised and diversified skillsets in emerging areas.

Dr Lim is particularly interested in protection of data security and privacy, automation of threat detection and incident response, securing AI systems, and quantum-resistant security. He has published more than 40 research articles in international leading journals and conferences; he was also a lead inventor in 4 granted US/EU/SG patents. He has been serving as a member of the Singapore National Security & Privacy Standards Technical Committee since 2018. He was a finalist of the Singapore Association of Information Security Professionals (AiSP) Cybersecurity Awards 2023, under the Leader Category.

In the past, Hoon Wei had held research positions with A*STAR, NUS, NTU, and SAP Labs France. He received his PhD degree in Information Security from the Royal Holloway, University of London, U.K.

Srinivasan Kannaiyan

Head of Cybersecurity Consulting, Nokia

Srinivasan Kannaiyan is the Head of Cybersecurity Consulting at Nokia, where he leads strategy and revenue growth for the security business line across communications service providers (CSPs) and enterprises in the Asia Pacific region. Based in Singapore, he has extensive experience in the cybersecurity, business, and operational support system domain. He excels at promoting and implementing technical security visions, educating key stakeholders, and driving the adoption of advanced cybersecurity solutions to enhance operational efficiency and generate new revenue streams.

Throughout his career spanning over three decades, Srinivasan has held various leadership roles with global companies such as Oracle, F5, Comverse (now Amdocs), and Tier 1 CSPs, focusing on cybersecurity and ICT industries.

Chin Ching

Systems Engineering Manager, Enterprise Team, Singapore, Palo Alto Networks

Chin Ching is the Systems Engineering Manager for the Enterprise Team, Singapore at Palo Alto Networks. In this role, he leads the Enterprise pre-sales systems engineering team and helps secure customers’ digital transformation journey toward cloud to drive business agility and growth.
Chin Ching has more than 14 years of experience in the cybersecurity industry and is working closely with organisations to improve their security posture as well as develop cyber-resilient infrastructure.

Before joining Palo Alto Networks, Chin Ching was with McAfee and PCS Security Pte Ltd, where he was responsible for designing and building cybersecurity solutions for Singapore government agencies.

Outside of work, Chin Ching is an avid Singer/instrumentalist and Emcee for events and weddings. He also loves some outdoor activities like cycling and hiking.

Simon Ng

Regional Director, Rohde & Schwarz

Simon Ng is a Regional Director at Rohde & Schwarz. Based in Singapore, he is responsible for the sales and operations of the Mobile Network Testing market segment in Asia Pacific.

Simon has a 20+ years career in the telecommunications industry where he has held technical, consultancy, sales and business development roles for several network operators and network vendors. At Rohde & Schwarz, he continues his passion in mobile technologies focusing on 5G undertakings, especially in topics such as private networks, Open RAN, NTN, and AI/ML.

Simon holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Melbourne, Australia.
