How the Telecommunication Industry Can Help Indonesia’s Digital Economy

Digital transformation is impacting all aspects of life today, from the way people live to the way countries grow their economies. In the midst of a pandemic that isn’t over yet, digitization continues to reshape the telecommunication industry landscape, at the same time giving the telco companies an opportunity to take a bigger role in supporting a country’s economic growth, as well as in Indonesia. Digitization is also offering telco companies an opportunity to rebuild their market positions, reimagine their business systems, create innovative offerings, and also deliver a better experience for customers. On 14 January 2021, Indosat Ooredoo, GSMA and Facebook hosted a virtual talk show on the 2021 outlook on digital transformation in the telecommunication industry.

The 2021 Digital Transformation Outlook was attended by people from the industry, communities, and members of the press. Key speakers included Indosat Ooredoo Director & Chief Operating Officer Vikram Sinha, Facebook Indonesia Country Director Pieter Lydian, Executive Director Head of Digital Bank at PT Bank UOB Indonesia Fajar Septandri Maharjaya, and the panel was moderated by Head of GSMA APAC Julian Gorman. Topics discussed at the event included digitizing operations (sales, distribution, and network), how to enhance customer experience through collaboration, empowering communities together to get the most out of the internet, and raising more awareness on cybersecurity. The playback of this virtual discussion panel is available for watching now.
