In this webinar, Mavenir provided an overview of how RCS is expanding its reach with mobile network operators in 2020 and discussed the improvements in customer experience that will be available in the coming months. Jenny Whelan, Head of Business Operations and Innovation at Telefonica joined Carlos Aragón, Senior Director of Business Mobility Solutions Marketing and Susie Kim Riley, SVP, GM, Monetization Business Unit from Mavenir to discuss:

  • Lessons learnt from MNO RCS deployments, challenges and solutions, with examples on different types of RCS technology deployments in MNO networks
  • The importance of the personal touch: Human in the loop – how being able to move from a chatbot to a live agent dynamically can be the difference between customer satisfaction and frustration
  • Combining the power of RCS messaging, chatbots and data rewards campaigns — use cases in Latin America using Mavenir’s ‘Aquto monetization’ engine on the carrier’s RCS network

Paul Schonewald

Programme Marketing Director, GSMA

Paul joined the GSMA in January 2017 and is responsible for the delivery of Marketing activities within the Future Networks programme. A vital programme of the GSMA’s strategic focus, delivering industry scale for IP Communications and 5G while considering Network Economic challenges for the Mobile industry as it transitions to a 5G Era.

Paul has over 20 years’ experience in the Mobile industry within operator and service provider environments across seven different countries, having launched many niche mobile propositions in these markets.

Carlos Aragón

Sr. Director of Business Mobility Solutions Marketing, Mavenir

Carlos Aragon is Sr. Director of Business Mobility Solutions Marketing at Mavenir. He has extensive experience with real-time communications, mobile and fixed-line Unified Communication (UC) services, UC as a Service and WebRTC as well as in-depth knowledge of related user experience fields such as video production and animation.

Carlos has two decades of experience in telecommunications, starting his career in a technical support engineering role for Ericsson; supporting 2G/3G switching, intelligent networks and GPRS. In 2000 he joined Nortel, where he held pre-sales and global product marketing responsibilities for Wireless Packet Core and, later, Multimedia Applications. In 2010 Carlos transferred to GENBAND as part of their Nortel acquisition (and then Ribbon Communications as part of their merger with Sonus Networks), where he had marketing responsibilities for Cloud and Platform-as-a-Service offers. In 2018 Carlos joined the Mavenir team to help mobile network operators provide innovative solutions for the enterprise of the future.

Carlos Aragon holds a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.

Susie Kim Riley

SVP, GM, Monetization Business Unit, Mavenir

Susie Kim Riley is a proven leader with a unique blend of technical and business creativity and capability. She has conceptualized and delivered disruptive technology & business-model based enterprises across hardware and software platforms. Over her 25 year career, Susie has founded and led multiple enterprises, scaling revenues to profitability, and yielding multi-billion dollar exits.

Susie is responsible for driving the monetization business at Mavenir and focused on developing solutions to help mobile operators find new sources of revenues beyond the traditional subscription model. She comes to Mavenir through the acquisition of Aquto.

Prior to Aquto, Riley was the CMO of Tekelec (acquired by Oracle) where she was responsible for strategy and technology direction. Riley came to Tekelec through the acquisition of Camiant, where she was the Founder and CTO.

Riley has held senior leadership positions at a number of other successful startup companies including Broadband Access Systems (acquired by ADC), Maker Communications (acquired by Conexant) and Proteon. She holds a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from Cornell University, and has 23 issued patents.

Jenny Whelan

Head of Business Operations and Innovation, LUCA Advertising, Telefonica

Jenny Whelan is responsible for Global Business Operations and Innovation in LUCA Advertising at Telefonica. She is focused on growing Telefonica’s Enterprise Messaging business line. More recently, she has been working directly on enabling RCS across Telefonica’s global footprint. She is passionate about innovation, digital, advertising, messaging and business development.
