Rich Communications Suite (RCS) emerged as a technical specification in February 2008. It went through four releases without producing any commercial subscriber services. In early 2011, Europe’s five biggest mobile operators galvanized RCS by promoting a simplified version, RCS-enhanced (RCS-e).
