GSMA Foundry’s Dynamic Week at m360 Eurasia: Driving Innovation and Collaboration

What a week we had at m360 Eurasia in Baku! Complete with exciting announcements, proactive meetings, and innovative partnerships.

On day 1 we held a virtual signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Veon, Beeline Kazakhstan, Barcelona Supercomputer, and GSMA. This initiative, spearheaded by the GSMA Foundry, aims to explore collaboration around the development of AI, language tech and LLMs for under-resourced languages, including those spoken in the regions where VEON operates.

“The project with VEON and Beeline Kazakhstan is the first on our exciting journey with the BSC. We now call on industry to join us and work together to reduce the disparity in developing and applying AI technologies across different languages. This disparity exacerbates the AI language gap, and the challenges that come with it, including siloed innovation and widening the digital divide. The Aina Alliance aims to ensure that no language is left behind as the world advances into an increasingly AI-driven future.”

We also had the pleasure of engaging with event sponsors Azercell to discuss an exciting initiative unveiled at MWC Barcelona earlier this year: the GSMA Foundry & IBM AI Challenge. This initiative offers GSMA members privileged access to IBM’s watsonx platform, empowering them to forge new frontiers in GenAI use cases. We eagerly anticipate witnessing the innovative endeavours that Azercell and other participants will undertake, and we are committed to sharing their successes along the way with the wider community.

Throughout the event, the GSMA Foundry demo pod served as a hub of information on the latest industry innovation, providing attendees with insights into our NTN community, AI challenges, and notable projects since the Foundry’s inception in 2021. It served as a focal point for exchanging ideas, forging partnerships, and bringing together transformative innovation.

As the event draws to a close, we reflect on the invaluable connections forged and the inspiring conversations shared. We extend our gratitude to all who contributed to making this week a resounding success. Looking ahead, we eagerly anticipate reconvening at m360 Eurasia next year and at additional m360 events later this year. Together, we will continue to drive progress, foster collaboration, and shape the future of technology.

Stay tuned for updates on upcoming m360 events and further developments from the GSMA Foundry. The journey towards a more inclusive, innovative, and interconnected future awaits!
