In the UK, a self-driving shuttle bus by Darwin Innovation Group uses 4G, 5G, and satellite tech for constant connectivity. This allows precise tracking and live data transmission for regulations. With a second bus added in December 2023, Darwin plans to test remote control. Although a safety operator is needed now, they hope the bus can run on its own when rules change. The mix of cellular and satellite tech could make self-driving vehicles common in cities and rural areas.
