Gentilly, March 18 2025 – Recommerce Group, the European expert in trade-in, refurbishment and resale of high tech devices officially becomes an Industry member of the GSMA, the global organization representing the mobile tech industry worldwide.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recommerce has played a key role in the mobile industry by extending the lifecycle of devices, starting with smartphones. Since 2009, Recommerce notably builds and operates buyback programs for telecoms operators. It then handles the devices refurbishment from data erasing, tests to repair and resale, avoiding electronic waste production and supporting telecoms sustainability efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joining the GSMA – which gathers not only telecom operators but also device manufacturers, software and equipment providers, reinforces Recommerce\u2019s mission to embed sustainability across the entire mobile value chain. For 15 years, Recommerce has sought to be a Circular Economy enabler for all types of stakeholders. Its core business and mission aligns closely with the GSMA\u2019s sustainability goals, in particular regarding its contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. By extending devices\u2019 lifespan, Recommerce directly contributes to \u201cResponsible Consumption and Production\u201d,<\/em> thus reducing emissions and materials extraction and offering budget friendly solutions to access technology to a wide audience (\u201cReducing Inequalities\u201d<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to the extensive network of the GSMA, Recommerce will have access to a global network of mobile operators and industry leaders : Beyond providing high-quality refurbished devices, this partnership will unlock new opportunities for innovation across the entire device lifecycle, leveraging Recommerce\u2019s expertise in operating advanced trade-in, and resale programs using cutting-edge technology to maximize device value and extend product lifespans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The GSMA already drives the mobile industry\u2019s global initiatives to address key ESG challenges including climate change, e-waste, and resource depletion, and these efforts will be supplemented by Recommerce in tackling the broader global agenda of achieving net-zero emissions and supporting a more sustainable future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
