{"id":53725,"date":"2025-07-24T13:59:43","date_gmt":"2025-07-24T12:59:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gsma.com\/get-involved\/gsma-membership\/?post_type=gsma_theme_resources&#038;p=53725"},"modified":"2025-07-25T14:54:22","modified_gmt":"2025-07-25T13:54:22","slug":"sparkle-and-algerie-telecom-sign-a-memorandum-of-understanding-for-a-new-subsea-cable-linking-italy-and-algeria","status":"publish","type":"gsma_theme_resources","link":"https:\/\/www.gsma.com\/get-involved\/gsma-membership\/cn\/gsma_resources\/sparkle-and-algerie-telecom-sign-a-memorandum-of-understanding-for-a-new-subsea-cable-linking-italy-and-algeria\/","title":{"rendered":"Sparkle and Alg\u00e9rie T\u00e9l\u00e9com Sign a Memorandum of Understanding for a New Subsea Cable Linking Italy and Algeria"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Unveiled at the<a>&nbsp;<\/a>Italy-Algeria&nbsp;Business Forum, the MoU outlines a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating Algeria\u2019s digital transformation<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rome\/Algiers,&nbsp;24 July 2025<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tisparkle.com\/\">Sparkle<\/a>,&nbsp;the first international service provider in Italy and among the top global operator and<a>&nbsp;<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.algerietelecom.dz\/en\">Alg\u00e9rie T\u00e9l\u00e9com<\/a>,&nbsp;the leading national telecommunications operator in Algeria, which offers a wide range of fixed-line, Internet, and enterprise solutions, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the development of a new subsea cable linking Italy and Algeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The agreement was announced during the 6<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;Italy-Algeria Business Forum held yesterday in Rome, in the presence of&nbsp;the President of the Council of Ministers of Italy,&nbsp;<strong>Giorgia Meloni<\/strong>, and of the President of the People&#8217;s Democratic Republic of Algeria,&nbsp;<strong>Abdelmadjid Tebboune<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the MoU, Sparkle will realise with Alg\u00e9rie T\u00e9l\u00e9com a submarine cable linking Italy and Algeria and provide related&nbsp;value-added services on cybersecurity and cloud computing, technical support for data center development, training across key technical topics as well as a point of presence in Europe fully dedicated to&nbsp;Alg\u00e9rie T\u00e9l\u00e9com, all aimed at supporting&nbsp;Algeria\u2019s digital transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new, dedicated submarine cable will provide&nbsp;a high-capacity route to Europe,&nbsp;delivering enhanced performance, ultra-low latency, and full redundancy compared to existing&nbsp;infrastructures.
