{"id":13544,"date":"2025-07-01T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-01T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gsma.com\/get-involved\/working-groups\/?post_type=gsma_theme_resources&#038;p=13544"},"modified":"2026-03-24T11:58:40","modified_gmt":"2026-03-24T11:58:40","slug":"ts-40","status":"publish","type":"gsma_theme_resources","link":"https:\/\/www.gsma.com\/get-involved\/working-groups\/gsma_resources\/ts-40\/","title":{"rendered":"TS.40 v10.1\u00a0MIoT Field and Lab Test Cases"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This document provides guidelines for the tests to be performed during Field Tests and Lab Tests on LPWA (Low Power Wide Area) Mobile IoT modules and devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Field Tests<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Field Tests are conducted in the later stages of terminal development.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They take place on a real, live deployed network to validate specific features or technologies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>These tests ensure confidence in the performance of Mobile IoT modules and devices in actual operational environments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Field Tests are expected to be performed without direct support from the network operator, although TSG and operator delegates may assist if needed (e.g., drafting tests, providing network information).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lab Tests<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lab Tests are also performed in the later stages of terminal development.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They use laboratory-based network components that simulate real deployed networks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lab Tests complement Field Tests, especially for scenarios that are difficult or impossible to execute on a live network.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Test Execution Guidelines<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Field and Lab Tests may be performed in any convenient order.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Only features supported by the Device Under Test (DUT) should be tested.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Using a logging tool is recommended to capture log files during testing. These logs help clarify network behavior and remove ambiguity in test results.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For performance-related tests, it is advisable to run tests using both the DUT and a reference terminal (e.g., a competitive device available on the market). The reference device helps validate and contextualize results.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the DUT includes a non-removable eUICC, the Generic Test Profile [17] should be used.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reporting and Visibility<\/strong><br>To provide clarity on the applicability, scope, and outcomes of Field and Lab Tests conducted on Mobile IoT modules and devices, Annex A has been included in this document.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This document provides guidelines for the tests to be performed during Field Tests and Lab Tests on LPWA (Low Power Wide Area) Mobile IoT modules and devices.
