The GSMA Mobile Identity Programme Global Launch will be a full day convening about the opportunity for mobile network operators to enter the mobile identity value chain with two content streams covering:

  • Building the business model and value proposition for both consumers and service providers to adopt Mobile Identification via eSignature and Mobile Authentication via “Connect” services;
  • Reinforcing the mobile identity ecosystem and encouraging interoperability;
  • Upcoming regulatory and policy issues in the European context;
  • The future of mobile identity services.

The global launch event will take place on the eve of the World e-ID Congress, which runs from 19th-21st September at the Acropolis in Nice (for which a discounted registration code will be available to those attending the GSMA event).

Plenary session: The importance of the SIM card
What is the role of the SIM card for Mobile Signature? How can it be used for Single Sign-on solutions? How can the secure element be used for identity services? Is the SIM the best device to use for Identity Services?

  • Group A: Mobile Identification (through eSignature): What is the necessary ecosystem for Mobile Signature? Can an operator launch alone in his country? The proposed EU regulation on electronic identification, other regulatory considerations and their impact on mobile signature

  • SIGNATURE: What are the problems that the new regulation is trying to solve? What will be the impact on mobile signature? Will mobile signatures be compatible internationally? Will the changes drive adoption?
  • SINGLE SIGN-ON: What kind of data can operators collect? What can they share? What is needed to comply with regulations? What approach should operators take in countries that lack appropriate frameworks?

Afternoon Sessions:

  • Group A: Mobile Identification (through eSignature): eGovernment services and mobile signature. What kinds of governmental services can use electronic signature? What is needed to offer mobile voting? Do governmental services help drive adoption? Is it necessary to have the government’s support to launch mobile signature?

Ronan Lacroix, Products & Innovation Director, Deutsche Telekom
Ronan Lacroix has joined Product & Innovation at Deutsche Telekom in 2010 as a Senior Business Development Manager in the B2B2X department responsible for Cross-Industry Product Delivery. Ronan gathered extensive business and technical expertise holding various international and cross-functional management positions within major telecommunications and high-technology companies including Vodafone, Orange and Bouygues Telecom. Ronan is currently involved in GSMA’s Network-API Fast-Track Project, which aims at delivering cross-operator enabling products (APIs) to 3rd-parties based on Operator capabilities such as Identity, Payment or Messaging

Janne Jutila, Business Director, Mobile ID and New Services, Elisa
Janne is currently Business Director at Elisa Customer Interaction Services -business unit, where he heads Elisa’s Mobile ID authentication, signature and payment approval business development. Before this role, he was head of Elisa’s corporate New Services and Markets business development unit. Prior to joining Elisa, Janne worked at Indagon, a positioning technology company, and Nokia Early Stage Technology Fund. Before entering the telecoms industry, Janne spent over 10 years working in banking & asset management and strategy consulting at The Boston Consulting Group.

Stela Mocan, Executive Director, e-Govt Centre, Government of Moldova
Stela Mocan has helped lay the foundations for the National e-Governance Transformation Agenda and create the e-Government Center in August 2010. Currently, Stela leads a fast growing team of 22 people with the mission to improve public services through technology. Prior to creating eGC, Stela was adviser to the Prime Minister. From 1998 to 2008, Stela has worked in international development organizations like UNDP, USAID, and IRI where she has built extensive expertise in the areas of democracy building and governance, political party strengthening and women’s empowerment in Moldova.

Iurie Turcanu, Deputy Director & CTO, e-Government Centre, Government of Moldova
Iurie joined eGC in early 2011 to help establish a high quality e-government technology platform. As CTO, his main efforts are concentrated on putting modern technologies such as cloud and mobile computing to serve our citizen’s needs. Prior to joining eGC, for many years Iurie led a group of IT architects and analysts in a multinational IT company, where he and his team developed and implemented information systems for leading companies in the financial, investment, telecommunication and media sectors from all around the world.

Irina Strajescu, Business Development Head, Government e-ID, Moldcell
Irina Strajescu is heading Business Development in Moldcell – mobile communication operator in Moldova. Being responsible for strategic development of the company Irina is in charge of regulatory relations as well as commercial projects of strategic importance. One of such projets is the joint public-private partnership directed towards the implementation of Mobile-ID in the Republic of Moldova.

David Birch, Digital Identity Expert, Director, Consult Hyperion
Dave is a founding Director of Consult Hyperion. Here he provides specialist consultancy support to clients around the world, including all of the leading payment brands, major telecommunications providers, governments bodies and international organisations including the OECD. He is the editor of a book on Digital Identity Management published in April 2007, and the editor of the Digital Identity blog
