Identity and Data Community Meeting – De-identification

Identity and Data Community Meeting – De-identification

Start: Monday 10 May 2021 15:00

End: Monday 10 May 2021 16:00

Venue: Online

Join us on Monday, 10 May 2021 from 15:00 (BST) for our Identity and Data Community Meeting (previously known as MCIG), focusing on data use safeguards including de-identification.

We are seeing ever more innovative data solutions by mobile operators. These solutions derive insights from the large amounts of customer data and need to be designed and operated with care in order to minimise the risks to the individuals behind the data. When deploying data services, mobile operators need to navigate complex legal and regulatory requirements governing data use. And it’s not just about regulation – for many operators this is about maintaining trust with their customers.

In our session, we will review some of the possible safeguards for mobile operators to mitigate the risks to their customers, including de-identification.

Our virtual meeting will cover:

  • Risks to individuals
  • De-identification as a safeguard
  • Examples of de-identification techniques and applications to machine learning projects
  • Telia Company case study: COVID-19 mobility analysis
  • Q&A and discussion
