In order to support regional drive, In May, the GSMA and several operators hosted the first service provider workshop in Dubai. Over 40 delegates attended, with 6 operator executives and 30 relevant digital & technology providers, including: Coca-Cola, Mastercard, Unilever, Visa, Souq.com, iMENA Group, Ericsson, Gemalto and SLA Mobile.
The summit informed key ecosystem players on the application of Mobile Connect and how it could be used to benefit businesses, consumers and governments in the region. Feedback on the event was extremely positive and resulted in firm commitments from operators. The GSMA will now support operators in achieving critical mass across several relevant MENA markets, and will use Gitex in October as another platform to demonstrate how the Mobile Connect ecosystem coming together.
