GSMA: Lessons Learned from the mHealth Grand Tour

In September 2013, the GSMA and the International Diabetes Federation European Region presented the mHealth Grand Tour, a 13-day cycling challenge from Brussels to Barcelona, to raise awareness of diabetes and showcase mHealth as a means of supporting an active lifestyle and better disease management for people with diabetes. The ride included a first-of-its-kind live clinical study on the effects of multi-day endurance exercise on blood glucose levels of riders with and without Type 1 diabetes.

The technical solution that enabled the study was designed by ANT+, Dexcom and Orange, in compliance with Continua Health Alliance’s interoperability guidelines, and demonstrated a practical, replicable end-to-end mhealth solution.

Join the GSMA at the mHealth Summit as we discuss discuss preliminary clinical findings; study implications and the need for research into exercise and diabetes; the path to achieving a multi-vendor, interoperable, replicable and scalable solution; lessons learned during implementation; and implications for market development, technical innovation and the public good.
