The eSIM use case

G+D and the Technical University of Kaiserslautern (TUK) have completed the world’s first commercial eSIM deployment in private 5G networks

In addition to the public 5G consumer networks that are being expanded by the established Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), companies now have the opportunity to set up their own local cellular network infrastructure – the so called Private Networks (PN).

TUK is one pioneer that has a dedicated frequency allocated by the Bundesnetzagentur for usage at its campus in Kaiserslautern, Germany. To build up the network, TUK cooperated with G+D as the company responsible of all the SIM and lifecycle Management.

The partners agreed to start with the most necessary devices that need connectivity on the campus i.e. the industrial PC and the industrial robot.
