Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (Cellular V2X) describes a set of technologies that allow vehicles to communicate with each other and other smart transport solutions via existing cellular networks in licensed spectrum. Cellular V2X (C-V2X) provides heightened predictability for enhanced safety and autonomous driving, and meets the industry’s need for scalable, secure and proven solutions.

This paper outlines the GSMA’s position on the current international policy developments on Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS), and explains the key features of Cellular V2X, the benefits of cellular connectivity for autonomous cars, and how C-V2X will facilitate the evolution to 5G networks.
