The widespread use of electronic devices such as personal computers, television sets, radios, mobile phones, tablets and routers causes e-waste to pile up as these products reach the end of their life cycle. Electronic waste is a growing issue throughout the world and will increase by 17.5 per cent in Latin America and 19.1 per cent in Colombia between 2012 and 2015. Aware of these issues, the colombian mobile network operators (MNOs) are currently carrying out voluntarily initiatives to recycle mobile phones, batteries and accessories. This work will support strategies for the Government’s Green Agenda for Recycling in Colombia.
