Digital ecosystem convening soon in Panama
GSMA Latin America Plenary Meeting #46, to be held in Panama City on 10 and 11 May, will include a plenary session and meetings of our four Working Groups (SEGF, REGU, TECT and WASL), plus the new Latam Strategy & Innovation Forum (LSIF). Public-private collaboration and responsible business, and maximising the socioeconomic benefits of mobile internet, will be some of the discussion topics among key speakers Roberto Meana Melendez, Administrator General of the ASEP, and CEOs of mobile operators in Panama.

What should be on the agenda of the next president to ensure a Digital Colombia?
Sebastián Cabello, Head of GSMA Latin America, and Lucas Gallitto, Public Policy Director of GSMA Latin America,  met Colombia’s presidential candidates and ICT specialists on 16 and 17 April in Bogotá, where they promoted public policy recommendations to empower users and successfully digitise the country.

Discussion on information society future in Latin America and the Caribbean
The ECLAC Sixth Ministerial Conference on the Information Society in Latin America and the Caribbean, held in Cartagena, included the discussion ‘Regulatory challenges and competition in the digital age’, with Sebastián Cabello as a member of the panel. CLTx, the preparatory meeting for CLT18, was also held during the conference.

Latest GSMA activities as Topic Chair of Digital Inclusion theme for Women 20
More than 150 women participated in the W20 National Consultation and Discussion Forum, held in Buenos Aires. Paula Ferrari, Marketing Director of GSMA Latin America, contributed the vision of the mobile industry in the working group ‘Access and Use of Technologies’ to prioritise recommendations to the G20 about Digital Inclusion of women.

On 11 May, Sebastián Cabello, Head of GSMA Latin America, highlighted mobile as the primary technology for accessing internet during the meeting ‘Women in agro, today and onwards’ organised by the Association of French-Argentine Women (Marianne Argentina) and Women 20 Argentina 2018, at the Embassy of France in Buenos Aires.

Industry contributions to Mexico’s digital agenda
To highlight the contributions of firms to Mexico’s digital agenda during public policy debate in the run-up to the 2018 elections, the GSMA and ANATEL will host a seminar in Mexico City on 15 May with sessions on regulatory and technological trends, spectrum, IoT, 5G, the new digital economy, new models of social responsibility and the digital gender gap.

Mobile industry to play key role at Painel Telebrasil 2018
Painel Telebrasil will address Brazil’s digital future in Brasilia from 22 to 24 May. During the event, Brazil’s mobile operators will launch new actions in the We Care Brazil campaign. The general conference, will include presentations by representatives from the GSMA about big data, the digital gender gap, Internet of Things and privacy.
