42 Telecom Makes New Key Appointments As Growth Continues

42 Telecom, a specialist provider of mobile messaging technology solutions and global SMS connectivity services, today announced four new key appointments to the senior management team based in its offices in London, Malta and Singapore.

The appointments signal further strategic expansion and business growth for 42 Telecom, which celebrated its 10th anniversary this year with the opening of three global offices, launch of new carrier products and services, and association with the Mobile Entertainment Forum (MEF).

Claire Cassar, General Counsel and SVP Product Development

Based in Malta, Claire Cassar has been appointed General Counsel and SVP for Product Development. In her dual role, Cassar will be responsible for leading the legal and regulatory departments of the company, as well as contributing actively to the deployment of some of 42 Telecom’s latest suite of carrier products. Previously, Cassar occupied the roles of Legal, Regulatory & Corporate Affairs Manager at Vodafone Malta Limited for eight years and was subsequently responsible for managing the Consumer Sales department. Cassar also assisted with the launch of Vodafone’s fully owned subsidiary and first operating company in the GCC.

Bringing with her over nine years experience from a mix of legal, regulatory and commercial acumen to the team Cassar’s vast experience in electronic communications industry, which will contribute to structure, facilitate and support the development and success of 42 Telecom’s commercial strategies.

Uwe Schiefelbein, Head of Messaging Services

Uwe Schiefelbein has been appointed the Head of Messaging Services for 42 Telecom, responsible for the company’s overall target sales revenues, profits and strategic positioning of the messaging services business unit. Previously, Schiefelbein was Senior Director Trading EMEA at Arbinet, where he managed the UK and EMEA Sales & Trading team for over four years. Under his leadership, he significantly grew the region’s revenue and profit and helped to position Arbinet as a strategic business partner within the carrier community.

Bringing with him over 20 years of experience from previous careers in AT&T, Teleglobe Canada, GTS Esprit/Ebone and France Telecom, Schiefelbein will bring much accomplished international telecommunications business development experience to 42 Telecom. Schiefelbein is based in London.

Robert Carfagno, SVP Asia Pacific

Roberto Carfagno has been appointed the position of Senior Vice President Asia Pacific. In his capacity, Carfagno will be responsible for generating and driving sales revenues and implementing a strong presence in the Asia Pacific region for 42 Telecom’s carrier products and services business unit. Previously, Carfagno worked for Asiaccess and prior to that for Comfone spanning over eight years. He has successfully developed and executed sales strategies across South East Asia region by understanding the market and adopting the best solutions for the mobile operators in helping them drive new revenues.

Bringing with him over 10 years of extensive knowledge and experience in the Asian market, Carfagno will bring a strong blend of market insight, new sales development and execution and strong leadership to 42 Telecom. Carfagno in based in the Singapore office.

Melissa Antão, Senior Marketing Communications Manager

Melissa Antão has been appointed the position of Senior Marketing Communications Manager, based in the London office. Antão is responsible for the company’s development and implementation of its global communications programmes. Previously, Antão held the position of Global Marketing Communication Project Manager at Mercer, where she managed online and offline communications globally across the UK, US and EMEA for a period spanning over six years. As previous Campaign Marketing Manager at Christie’s, she successfully developed and executed auction campaigns across a variety of marketing channels.

With over 8 years of experience in developing and executing marketing plans, Antão will bring much accomplished marketing and campaign management skills from within the B2B and B2C industry to 42 Telecom.
