KT’s Chairman and CEO, Lee Suk Chae is appointed as a new Board member of GSMA

KT begins sixth term on the GSMA Board

Lee Suk Chae, Chairman and CEO of KT, has been appointed as a new board member of the GSMA.

KT (Chairman and CEO, Lee Suk Chae, www.kt.com) announced on the 13th that Chairman Lee newly took a seat in the management board of the world’s largest association of mobile operators, where he will serve for two years from January 2013 through December 2014.

The Board of the GSMA, consisting of 25 CEOs and senior-level executives from mobile operators, as well as GSMA Director General Anne Bouverot, is one of the most influential decision-making bodies in the telecom industry, and this appointment marks KT’s sixth term to the GSMA Board.

Succeeding Pyo Hyun-Myung, head of KT’s T&C Business Group, who served from 2010 to this year, Chairman Lee will play an active role in the board to help address issues in the global communications industry through a higher level of interaction with CEOs of global telecom companies.

“I am very pleased and honored to be elected a new board member of the GSMA,” says Chairman Lee. “During my two-year term, I’ll give my top attention and dedication for the enhancement of global telecom industry by contributing innovations and advanced telecom services of Korea.”

KT is widely recognized as an innovative, technology-driven telecom carrier, as demonstrated in its winning awards at the 2012 GSMA World Mobile Congress for its ‘Premium WiFi’ and at LTE Awards 2012 for its offering called LTE Warp, and will contribute significantly to the GSMA Board.

Meanwhile, Chairman Lee will be delivering a keynote speech , of Korea mobile operator at the Mobile World Congress 2013, the world’s leading mobile industry exhibition and conference, to be held in Barcelona, Spain, in February next year.
