MACH Proud To Host 38th GSM Arab World Summit

Milestone achievement recognises growing momentum for MACH in region, as operators look to effectively monetize mobile data.

Luxembourg, 29th August, 2012 MACH, the leading provider of cloud-based managed communication services, today announced it will be hosting the 38thGSM Arab World Summit, due to take place in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt from 4th – 6th September, 2012. The move represents a major investment by MACH to support the event’s ongoing work to drive telecoms development and innovation in the area. The event is set to bring together leading representatives from across the communications industry to discuss the future of mobile services in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

The MENA market comprises a mixture of high-income countries with relatively mature telecoms markets, and countries that are experiencing strong growth. While mobile voice services continue to be an important revenue stream, in recent years, operators have been shifting their strategies to focus on driving demand for mobile data services. One of the key focuses at GSM Arab World #38 will be the effective monetization of these mobile data services, as well as how operators can protect themselves from fraud and other types of revenue leakage.

Rich Grohol, Chief Commercial Officer, MACH, commented: “MACH is extremely proud to be hosting this year’s GSM Arab World Summit. MENA is a diverse and exciting market, and the event always provides an excellent forum for the Arab World community to come together, share ideas and debate the future of mobile communications in the region. From MACH’s work with numerous leading operators in the region, we know that a key priority for them is to stimulate the uptake of mobile data services, while dealing with the numerous challenges that are faced by operators looking to bring effective and differentiated services to market. GSM Arab World will provide valuable insight into how telecoms organisations can react and adapt to the challenges and opportunities this changing market presents them with.”

Ziad Al Hassoun, Chairman at GSM Arab World, one of the GSM Association’s six Regional Interest Groups (RIGs) in which the mobile industry can address issues relevent to particular geographies, commented: “ We are delighted that MACH will host the 38th GSM Arab World meeting. MACH’s efforts with and participation in regional events are very much acknowledged and appreciated. In this meeting, we will focus on hot topics such as ITU revision, spectrum management, mHealth and roaming anti steering. Experts from the Arab operators and the GSM Association will speak and participate in panel discussions. Our goal in this meeting is to stand together as Arab operators to face our industry challenges, and to discuss the right approach to overcome these challenges.”
