GSMA’s Director General Mats Granryd visits Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Mats Granryd, the Director General of the GSMA recently visited the Middle East  and North Africa Region. He was accompanied by the Chief Regulatory Officer , John Giusti, Jawad Abbassi, the Head of the MENA region and Ammar Hammadien, the Head of Strategic Engagement for the MENA region.

The Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology, H.E. Eng. Abdullah Alsawaha, received Mr. Mats Granryd and GSMA’s delegation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Various high level engagements took place during  the visit. Mats held a meeting with H.E. Eng. Abdullah Alsawaha whcih was also also attended by H.E. Dr. Abdulaziz Alruwais, Governor of the CITC, as well as deputy governors and senior staff in the ministry including deputy ministers.  He also held a meeting with the Acting CEO of STC Group and senior executives, met with the CEO of Mobily, CEO of operations at Zain Group and the Chief Regulatory Officer as well as General Manager of Regulatory Affairs in Zain Saudi. His final meeting was  with the CEO of STC Academy.

The main points of discussion in all meetings were about building stronger collaboration between the GSMA and all the stakeholders in Saudi to help them achieve their National Transformation Plan (NTP 2020) which is aimed at putting the technical and communications requirements that enable the kingdom to achieve the Vision 2030 goals.
