Mobile Money interoperability in Jordan and lessons for the wider industry

In 2016, Jordan became the first country in the Middle East and North Africa to have implemented interoperability of mobile money services. The Central Bank of Jordan has developed a regulatory framework for mobile money and has begun to develop a national financial inclusion strategy, putting Jordan at the forefront of financial inclusion in the region and globally. However, the journey to interoperability has been fraught with challenges, with important lessons to be learned for the wider financial industry.
