Spectrum Roadmap Project

On 17 May, 2018, the GSMA met the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) in Egypt. The discussion focused on the Spectrum Roadmap Project. The advocacy win from the GSMA was based on comparing the amount of spectrum released by Egypt with that released by other countries. With this in mind, the Egyptian regulator fully committed to the project and assigned resources for the same.

The regulator and the operators noted that spectrum pricing was a key element in the successful implementation of the project. NTRA also requested for support in resolving the cross-border interference issues between EGSM and CDMA. All the operators to whom the project was presented and the NTRA showed strong support and commitment for the project as it is very relevant.
