New crowdsourcing challenge asks ‘How can we use mobile phones to improve early childhood care and education?’

A Nokia smartphone will go to the owner of the best idea submitted to the sixth phase of the Education for All (EFA) Crowdsourcing Challenge organized by UNESCO, Nokia and the Pearson Foundation.

From 10 April to 31 May, education and mobile learning stakeholders are invited to submit their mobile communication ideas for helping achieve EFA goal n°1 that calls for expanding and improving comprehensive early childhood care and education, especially for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children. They are also invited to vote or comment on other proposals.

As well as the Nokia smartphone and the $3,000 prize, the winner, who will be chosen by an expert panel of judges, is awarded a library of children’s books worth US$3,000, to be donated to a non-profit organisation of his or her choice.
