Join us at the Global Off-Grid Solar Forum and Expo

We are pleased to announce we have become a partner of the Global Off-Grid Solar Forum and Expo. Organised by the Global Off-Grid Lighting Association (GOGLA) and the IFC/World Bank Lighting Global program, the Forum is the world’s premier off-grid solar event. The conference and exhibition is supported by the World Bank’s ESMAP program and will be held from 22 to 24 January 2018 in Hong Kong. This is a unique opportunity to convene members of the mobile industry together with the key players in the off-grid solar energy sector, to explore synergies and important opportunities for collaboration.

The Forum will gather more than 500 off-grid solar companies, public and commercial investors, sector facilitators, government representatives and off-grid energy experts. The programme agenda features topical sessions on the commercial, technical, regulatory and financial aspects of the off-grid energy sector. The GSMA is participating in the Technical Advances in the Off-Grid sector panel. We look forward to discussing the current and future technological trends of the off-grid sector, including the success of leveraging mobile technologies such as Mobile Money, the Internet of Things, as well as emerging models around mobile customer data and block chain. We will also be launching our flagship Annual Report publication which explores our insights on these trends. For more information, make sure to take a look at the latest agenda.

We will also be hosting a side session on, ‘Engaging mobile operators for off-grid energy: a spotlight on Mobile Money integration’, with solar pay-as-you-go (PAYG) providers to discuss their journey on working with mobile operators in different markets and how partnerships are beneficial to support their business growth. Our session will focus on what the best practices are for working with an operator, and provide an overview on the key mobile channels that PAYG providers can leverage from a mobile operator partner.

In addition to engaging discussion, the event provides a unique opportunity for the mobile industry to meet and network with the key players of the off-grid energy sector. More than 60 companies and organisations will be showcasing their off-grid solar products and services, allowing participants to gain a concrete understanding of their offerings. We will be present at the exhibition sharing our programme’s work, please stop by or email us at [email protected] to set up a meeting.

We hope you will join us in engaging with the Off-Grid Solar Energy sector at the Global Off-Grid Solar Forum and Expo!
