MMU announces 5th Working Group in Kuala Lumpur

Mobile operators will descend on the city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for the 5th MMU Working Group taking place during the 5th and 6th of October.  Following the success of Mobile Money Summit in Rio, we will be sharing our latest learnings with the industry – from our ongoing research on customer activation, profitability, to insights into bank partnerships.   We are planning a series of interactive sessions; with the end goal of hearing and sharing your views helping us further enrich the industry’s learnings.   The MMU WG will cover a number of current challenges, including:

  • Customer Usage – Why aren’t more people using mobile money in markets where it is already available and what are the most effective ways of marketing mobile money? The MMU team will share a diagnostic toolkit to determine the key obstacles to customer uptake as well as a guide to marketing best practices for mobile money.
  • Profitability – What are the value and cost drivers in the mobile money business? We will share benchmarks for key metrics, and practical recommendations for how services can be most effectively deployed.
  • Regulation – What regulatory developments have recently taken place? We will share case studies from our MMU markets in order to showcase what regulatory developments have been made, and how they came about.
  • Bank Partnerships – what are the key lessons that the industry has learnt so far about how to structure successful alliances between operators and banks? We will present key learnings from the research that is underway with a number of existing partnerships.
  • Technology Selection – what mobile money technology solutions exist and what are the key considerations that an operator needs to make when selecting a technology partner?
