Durgesh and mobile learning, Uttar Pradesh, India
In a remote village near Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, Durgesh is at the forefront of the next generation of users whose first experience of accessing the internet is via a mobile handset. He tells us that being able to tap into alternative sources of information is highly valuable to him and affords him the chance to learn by himself. Previously, he explains, his only source of information was his teacher. Now, he’s researching scientific topics on YouTube and learning how to complete C++ programming assignments on his mobile. Durgesh is swift to see the benefits of mobile learning and data access and has a few suggestion of his own as to how future services may develop in his country.
