Kamworks: Introducing GSM-enabled PAYG Solar in Cambodia image

Kamworks received a Seed grant from the Mobile for Development Utilities Innovation Fund in November 2013 to introduce pay as you go (PAYG) solar home systems (SHS) in Cambodia. After several pivots, including changes to its product portfolio and partnerships and restructuring its sales organisation, Kamworks met its target of 300 SHSs in May 2015. This Case Study outlines the lessons learned by Kamworks in developing and trialling PAYG technology as well as in introducing the PAYG business model to an underserved energy market in South-East Asia.
