About The GSMA Innovation Fund for Climate Resilience and Adaptation

On 27 February 2023, during the GSMA Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona, the GSMA announced the launch of the GSMA Innovation Fund for Climate Resilience and Adaptation 2.0. The fund is designed to help accelerate the testing, adoption and scalability of digital innovations that enable the world’s most vulnerable populations to adapt, anticipate and absorb the negative impacts of climate change, or strengthen biodiversity.

This funding round builds on the previous GSMA Innovation Fund for Climate Resilience and Adaptation launched at COP26.

The GSMA invites applications from start-ups, small and medium enterprises and social enterprises leveraging digital technology to deliver climate resilience and adaptation solutions to and with low-income and vulnerable populations. Geographies of interest include Africa, South and Southeast Asia, Pacific Islands, the Caribbean, Bolivia, Colombia and Guatemala, Albania and Moldova.

Successful projects will receive grant funding of between GBP 100,000 and GBP 250,000 over 15 to 18 months, plus tailored technical assistance including:

  • Mentoring and expert advice
  • Networking and showcasing opportunities
  • Facilitating relevant partnerships
  • Monitoring and evaluation support
