How are e-learning apps supporting education in the Middle East?

Using mobile technology to support young people’s education is a key focus for Zain. It has developed a number of e-learning initiatives across the Middle East.

In Kuwait, its Zidnei app helps to increase students’ understanding of the school curriculum – it currently has 37,000 subscribers. Developed under the auspices of Jordan’s leading education and training academy, Jo Academy, a service called Net.allem enables young people to attend online courses with teachers from all over the country. Finally, the Sadeem app, which is available in Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan and Saudi Arabia, provides a shared platform that brings students and their families together. Young people get all their school information in one place, including daily schedules and assignments, and parents can use the app to see what their child is doing at school.

All three of these services use mobile technology to help young people reach their full potential. As Jennifer Suleiman, Chief Sustainability Officer at Zain, notes, “We are convinced that the rise of modern technology… has the power and the reach to drastically improve people’s quality of life and, as a digital lifestyle provider, we are on the frontline of this ongoing effort.”
