Improving refugee wellbeing in Jordan and Kuwait

When you are forcibly displaced from your home, mobile connectivity becomes even more important. It helps you to get information, stay in touch with loved ones and access essential services. It can even bring a sense of independence, stability and dignity in the most difficult of situations.

For many refugees who fled the war in Syria and settled in Jordan, Zain’s mobile services provide vital support as they rebuild their lives. Mousa, who now lives in Jordan, has been able to maintain contact with other families and gain financial independence through the Zain Cash mobile wallet, for example. In 2015, Zain signed an agreement with the UNHCR and Facebook to provide free Wi-Fi connectivity for refugees in 10 locations across Jordan for the next five years

Zain also works with the UNHCR in Kuwait to raise awareness and funds for displaced families who are facing harsh weather. Its #ZainWithRefugees campaign aims to improve the living conditions of thousands of refugees in the region by providing financial aid, winter clothing and other vital support.
