In Peru, a mobile classroom gives children a brighter future

Although access to education in Peru is improving, many children – especially those in rural and low-income areas – have limited learning opportunities. Telefónica is providing technology and other resources to help ensure that no child misses out on a good education.

The Fundación Telefónica Aula Móvil (Mobile Classroom) can be set up in any school – including in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. As well as providing laptops and other technical equipment, the mobile classroom includes educational resources and teacher training tools.

In the remote village of San Antonio del Estrecho, the mobile classroom is making children more enthusiastic about learning and reducing absenteeism. As nine-year-old Yaris says, “Before, this classroom was a library and didn’t have computers. The lessons weren’t entertaining – now, we have more fun.” By giving teachers the right tools and making sure students can make the most of technology, Telefónica is helping to bring a brighter future to more than a million young people across Peru.
