Matching young people’s skills with study opportunities and jobs in the digital economy

In 2018, Vodafone launched an international careers programme called What will you be?.  As part of this, the company set up Future Jobs Finder, a smartphone-based service that helps young people to prepare for their future in an increasingly digital world. As Joe Griffin, Senior Manager, Sustainability Strategy at Vodafone Group, explains, “Future Jobs Finder helps young people, who may not have any idea what they want to be, to understand what the digital economy could look like for them.”

With research showing a growing gap in digital skills and knowledge, Vodafone teamed up with occupational psychologists to design the Future Jobs Finder tool that tests young people’s skills and acts as a gateway both to gaining new digital skills and discovering opportunities for employment in the growing digital economy. Participants take a short multiple choice test and then receive tailored career and study options in everything from cybersecurity to game design to machine learning.

Available in 90+ countries, more than 500,000 young people have been supported through Future Jobs Finder to date. Vodafone is also committed to training 100,000 young people through apprenticeships, internships, work experience and employment.
