Supporting children with special educational needs in Turkey
Turkcell’s My Gem Inside is a certified educational app for children with autism, Down’s syndrome, Asperger’s and other special educational needs and disabilities. Created together with the Ministry of Education in Turkey, its ad-free games support children’s development and promote their participation in the community.
The app contains a module for children, containing more than 50 education programmes developed by families and experts that support the child’s cognitive, behavioural and emotional development. A separate module enables parents and teachers to configure the settings and follow the child’s progress on the app.
Since it launched, Turkcell’s My Gem Inside app has been downloaded 30,000 times with 300,000 games played. Ataç Tansuğ, EVP of Digital Services and Solutions, says: “My Gem Inside aims to prepare children with autism for inclusive education via gamified courses supporting their cognitive, behavioural and emotional development. We are, and will be, working on using our technology for social good.”
