Supporting children’s development in Japan

Mobile technology can help with children’s independence as they grow up. In Japan, NTT DOCOMO offers the imadoco-search service, which uses GPS on the Kids Keitai mobile phone or smartphone to map a child’s location.

Their location is automatically transmitted to their parents if the child presses an emergency alarm on the handset or if the power is low or interrupted – meaning that parents can still see their location even if the Kids Keitai mobile phone’s power is off. It also enables parents to check incidents that occur near places where their child spends time.

Imadoco-search helps young people to have their independence whilst giving families the peace of mind that their child will be safer. The service plays an important role in NTT DOCOMO’s commitment to safeguarding its younger users as they go about their daily lives.
